Restoring the Diatom Algae population back to the pre Industrial Revolution levels will require some intervention. Its unfortunate that UN and other bodies are unable to distinguish between restoration of Diatom Algae and Fish population and changing chemistry of oceans (Ocean Fertilization). There does not seem to have been any discussion on how to proceed with the experiments to confirm or reject the various options. A moratorium without a framework or plan for experimentation is unscientific and illogical. The reason why one German ministry chose to go ahead with a scientific experiment and for the Asilomar Conference are the lack of a UN backed framework on experimentation. The moratorium should be only on commercial climate change venture and not on experimentation. Just as GMOs were thought to be a cure all we are finding out that instead they directly impact our gene make up and alter the way we and nature works, to the bad... Time to stop these measures and focus on REAL and difficult change, I mean changing drastically the ways we behave like walk more, take public transport instead of driving everywhere.
